The Iceman

Just checked my bank account and my check for the Iceman cleared. Traverse City, MI in November will be so beautiful or cold whichever way you want to look at it.

What a mess!!

February 27th at 6:00 p.m. was the time that registration for the 2009 Iceman Cometh race in Traverse City, MI was supposed to take place. I say "supposed" to take place because some idiot wrote a program that attempted to enter his name into the race 100,000 times in 30 minutes. Now to make it clear just what kind of idiot this person was, the race only allows 2500 entrants. Needless to say the whole entry system crashed and the entry was postponed until March 2 at 6:00 p.m. Again I was at the computer only to have a few hundred people get entered and the system crashed again. About 3 days later the race director decided to go back to old fashioned paper entry forms with a twist. Instead of only 2500 entrants being accepted, they are taking whoever gets their entry postmarked by March 7. I spent more time trying to enter the race then it will actually take to complete the race but I got my entry fee sent in in time. All of this to enter a race that doesn't happen until November 7, 2009.
